Encapsulated Gradient

Usually when a patient wants a gradient lens with polarization, it has to be created in the optical lab via dip tinting. This extra process can create unnecessary delays and increases the possibility of errors, such as mismatches or misalignment. Since the dye is usually on the outer surface of the lens, it can fade over time due to exposure.

NuPolar Gradient lenses are the only lenses with the gradient and the polarized film both encapsulated within the lens. This means no extra processing time needed for tinting. The patent pending Encapsulated Gradient Technology means faster turn-around, prevents fading and discolouration over time, and an exact match every time.

Polarization

Only polarized lenses can block blinding glare, which is why it’s important that every patient is recommended a pair of polarized sunwear. Normally, light is reflected in all directions. However, when light is reflected off a shiny horizontal surface, it becomes preferentially polarized in one direction, resulting in blinding glare that overwhelms the eye’s sensors and causes discomfort.

The polarizer within the lens contains millions of iodine or dye molecules that are carefully aligned to intercept and block this excess horizontal reflection. This results in comfortable vision with no glare. See video.

NuPolar Gradient lenses are polarized uniformly over the whole lens, including the lighter bottom portion.
